Babel21 was a project with German theatre director Levin Handschuh and in cooperation with ethnologist Dr. Lars Frühsorge of the Völkerkundesammlung Lübeck. By confronting the viewer with a living installation consisting of kinky people sealed in plastic for an exhibition, it asked the question what we consider a sexual deviance and where that notion originates from. The piece was accompanied by an audio guide which brought to live all the voices of the sealed in people in a multi-facetted „new babel“.
The piece was performed in summer 2021 in Kulturwerft Gollan, Völkerkundesammlung Lübeck and Museum am Rothenbaum Hamburg and was funded by the Possehl Stiftung Lübeck and the Behörde für Kultur und Medien Hamburg.
